Upland rice: phenotypic diversity for drought tolerance

چکیده
ABSTRACT: Upland rice is cultivated mostly in Latin America and Africa by small farmers areas with risk of dry spells. This study evaluated morphophysiological mechanisms upland associated to drought adaptation. A set 25 genotypes were grown a plant phenotyping platform during 2015 2017 under regular irrigation water restriction. We traits shoots (vegetative structures growth, gas exchange, use efficiency, carboxylation status) roots (length, surface area, volume diameter), as well agronomic (grain yield its components). There was reduction grain up 54 % 58 2017, respectively, deficit. Five the best performances both treatments applied recommended rice-breeding program: Bico Ganga, BRS Esmeralda, BRSMG Curinga, Guarani, Rabo de Burro. In this study, tolerance concerned high capacity save leaves, low leaf potential, ability reduce vegetative structures, photosynthetic capacity, improved absorb from drying soil, either osmotic adjustment or additional investment into root system. Therefore, we concluded that different secondary contributed should be along improve efficiency breeding selection.

Genetic Diversity of Drought Tolerant Upland Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Genotypes
Genetic divergence of thirty three drought tolerant rice (Oryza sativa L.) genotypes were studied through Mohalanobis’s D and principal component analysis for twelve characters. The genotypes were grouped into seven clusters. The cluster I and II were comprised of the maximum number of genotypes (eight) in each followed by cluster V containing five genotypes. The highest inter-cluster distance ...

Considerable clinical successes have been achieved in cancer treatment since the introduction of targeted therapies. However, almost inevitably tumors develop therapy resistance, which limits durable clinical responses. Tumors are often heterogeneous, and as a result, therapy-resistant cells are present even before the start of treatment. Resistance is commonly mediated via genetic changes. How...
متن کاملUpland Rice and Allelopathy
Upland rice (Oryza sativa L.) is mainly grown in Asia, Africa and Latin America. Yield potential of upland rice is quite low and invariably this crop is subjected to many environmental stresses. Further, when upland rice is grown in monoculture for more than two to three years on the same land, allelopathy or autotoxicity is frequently reported. Allelopathy involves complex plant and plant chem...
متن کاملOverexpression of OsNAC14 Improves Drought Tolerance in Rice
Plants have evolved to have sophisticated adaptation mechanisms to cope with drought stress by reprograming transcriptional networks through drought responsive transcription factors. NAM, ATAF1-2, and CUC2 (NAC) transcription factors are known to be associated with various developmental processes and stress tolerance. In this study, we functionally characterized the rice drought responsive tran...
متن کاملGene Regulation and Biotechnology of Drought Tolerance in Rice
Drought is one of the main factors affecting rice productivity. Aromatic Rice varieties differ in their ability to withstand drought while keeping characteristic fragrance. Considering that 70% of the water used by humankind is directed to irrigate crops, tolerance to water scarcity is also a key issue for agricultural sustainability. The understanding on the mechanisms underlying drought toler...
